First Sunday of Christmastide
December 27, 2020

PAJAMA SUNDAY, young and old, come as you are!

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP
Theme: Christmas Journey
Scripture: The Nativity Story from Luke 2:1-20
This week is full of music as we sing the carols we learned during Advent and learn more! A song
by Jim and Jean Strathdee is the special message followed by St. Mark’s Bell choir and Mort gives
a gift to Rod—so watch to the very, very end!

CALL TO WORSHIP
(Kwasi I. Kena, ©2007 Discipleship Resources)
People: Sing! Sing to the Lord a new song!
Leader: for “new every morning” mercies,
for “what God has done for you!”
People: Sing! Sing to the Lord a new song!
Leader: for forgiving the sin that only you and God know about,
for grace that is more than sufficient.
People: Sing! Song to the Lord a new song!
ALL: For every mountain you brought us over,
for every hardship you saw us through,
our souls sing, “Hallelujah, yes, and amen.”

OPENING HYMN
“Infant Holy, Infant Lowly”

Bonnie McMaken, Johannah Swank, and Marissa Cunningham singing a traditional Polish Christmas carol

OPENING PRAYER
Gracious God, your servant Mary and Joseph said yes to your travel plans for their lives;so allowing your plan of salvation for all of Creation to unfold. From the tiny curled fingers of an infant, the outstretched hand of healer, to the hands pierced on the wooden cross, your child Jesus showed the Way to abundant life on earth, as it is in heaven. Grant us courage, faith and joy that we may begin our journey anew each day, proclaiming Him the good news in a hungry, hurting world.

PASTORAL PRAYER
OUR LORD’S PRAYER, IN UNISION
Our Father/Mother/Creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
