CHILDREN’S WORSHIP
provided by Pentecost Circuit of United Methodist Churches in Sacramento
Theme: HOPE (The First Sunday of Advent)
Scripture: Mark 1:2-3

This week Rev. Motoe Yamada-Foor greets and blesses the children; we
light our first Advent candle; Momoko Tamaoki Newsome talks about making a path straight to our
hearts; Sandi from Lodi First UMC plays the bells to the tune of “This Little Light of Mine”; a new
puppet sings a “carol”; and… Mort dances to Rod’s song about hope–watch to the very end, after
the ‘end’ to see what Mort says “nope” to! AND to hear about Family Time movies to see during
this season…

CALL TO WORSHIP

The Prologue to the Gospel of John, 1:1-6
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things came into being through him,
and without him not one thing came into being.
What has come into being in him was life,
and the life was the light of all people.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness did not overcome it.

HYMN OF REFLECTION

JOYS, GRATITUDES AND CONCERNS
PASTORAL PRAYER
OUR LORD’S PRAYER, IN UNISION
Our Father/Mother/Creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
